Note: Because of the campaign and trips to see relatives afterwards, I have neglected this blog. But, I will now start up again.Citing the need to protect children, Gov. Gregoire recently told the press that CPS would not take budget cuts. I am the first to agree that not enough is being done to protect children. Just read the headlines to see how many cases are gone neglected by the department. But, on the other end of the spectrum, children are being taken without cause. No budget cuts means the system of taking children for adoption will continue, unabated, during the budget shortage. Here is a grandma comment just posted. This story is one repeated often.

"The job of the CPS worker is to build the most damning report she can to justify the removal of the children. I have read the report on my son and his wife, who were not allowed to bring their newborn home from the hospital because of the alleged possibility of neglect. The descriptions in the CPS report bear only a vague resemblance to my real-life son and daughter-in-law. The report paints such a misleading picture of the situation that it would be no help to Senator Roach or to anyone who wanted to know the true story."
Today in Olympia I received two calls from CPS involved families. All were pleading for help from a government that has lied to take children. I am sure there are some cases where the department is correct in their actions....I wonder if Secretary Denise Revels Robinson has gotten the "taking rate" down like she said she would.
Session starts Janurary 10th. I will be ready.

I have been WAITING for 2011 to get here! First plaintiff on my complaint,Nancy Timms. And the rest of the beasts who have "painted" a WRONG picture of me as a parent. Parents,Grandparents,never give up hope! I and my children ARE living PROOF that you can FIGHT to get your children back. Even when it seems impossible. Even when you are served termination papers,like I was. You have no choice to be one step ahead of CPS and do whatever you can to hire a REAL lawyer. It's your children you are fighting for. I fought over 2+ yrs for my children and was run through the mill. My lawyer told me,had I hired him it would have been over in a week. And I believe him. Now he has teamed up with another lawyer and they are after the ST for what they have put my children through. And who they put my children with. Please don't ever give up hope or stop fighting. Even when you feel like giving up and throwing in the towel because the system has maxed you out. I was there and still am there now. (feeling maxed out as a result of CPS actionsand how my children were affected. Why I am sleepless tonight.) Never give up!!!

I do hope in time you hold another rally in Olympia! I was at the first before my children were released from the depths of hell on earth and I was encouraged. Thank you.
I remember 1998 as though it were yesterday. The day that I HAD to sign the open adoption agreement on my son Aaron Lee Erickson (now Aaron Watkins - missing person in the state of New Jersey). The state said I was a terrible parent and that if I did not sign they would come and take my remaining child out of my home with no questions asked if I did not sign relinquishment on him!
I successfully raised that one child that was still in my care at that time and he is now very alive,well and has a child of his own.
Aaron, however, is listed as missing in the State of New Jersey and has been since Nov. 11, 2007.
I wonder why I was never notified and actually found him by his missing person's poster online on September 14, 2010. He had been missing almost 3 years by the time I found out about it. My open adoption agreement stated I was to be notified in the event of a life threatening emergency. But then again, the state steps out after they adopt them, not to mention, he nor I have any rights once he turned 18. (he was only 18 for 3 months)
I also struggle with trying to get the Investigator to list him on the NCMEC website which the federal Suzanne law says he can be if law enforcement calls them.....He also qualifies for being listed as "high risk" with the Patricia Law in New Jersey and actually fits 4 of the categories for the need to be listed as high risk.
I suspect this is due to his being adopted and I have NO RIGHTS to ask them to do certain things in regards to his disappearance! After all, I only carried him for 9 months, raised him up from 1989 to 1998, and then was FORCED to give him away, IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD!
The adopted father feels that Aaron is gone and committed suicide (which is a possibility)but I, however, still sit here day after day worried (like I have since the day he was born and during the period of his adoption) that he is still out there waiting to be FOUND and LOVED!
