I know I'm generalizing but if the "grandparents" couldnt get parenting right the first time (as parents) and their "kids" as adults ended up in the system why do we want to give these people a chance to screw up a new generation? (From an anonymous PRR reader)

Pam, As parents we try to raise our children to be productive members of society. Unfortunatly, sometimes our children make poor decisions which effect their lives forever. We have seven children, and one of ours chose to go down the wrong path. No matter how hard we worked to send our child down the right path, in the end our child still chose the path they were taking. Our other six children have turned out to be very productive members of society and are raising their children with those same values. So does that make us bad parents to raise our grandchildren if something unfortunate was to happen to our children? I find it hard to believe that somebody would be so narrow minded to send in a comment such as this!
Senator Roach,
First of all, it is an ignorant statement to make. You need to know all the details. How do you know the adoptive family, social workers, foster parents havn't been in the system? How do you know they haven't had adoptive children DIE in their care AND WHY DON'T PEOPLE QUESTION IT? How do you know foster children haven't DIED in their care? How do you know FOSTER, ADOPTORS, SOCIAL WORKERS are not DRUG ADDICTS OR FORMER DRUG ADDICTS - is that a good role model, OR ALCOHOLICS or former ALCOHOLICS. How do you know their friends and the people they engage with - what is their background? Do you think an adoptor engaged in the "Adult Entertainment Industry" is a good ROLE MODEL? An investigative report in Texas found that over 370social workers had criminal records! How do you EXPLAIN THAT? LOOK IN THE MIRROR FIRST BEFORE YOU JUDGE OTHERS! IF YOU HAVE A COMPLETELY CLEAN BACKGROUND INCLUDING THE PEOPLE YOU HAVE IN YOUR CIRCLES THEN DON'T JUDGE OTHERS.
I wanted to add that unless you have a SPARKLY, CLEAN, ROSY BACKGROUND and we the PUBLIC can review this as if you were running for public office and YOU HAVE RAISED YOUR OWN BIOLOGICAL CHILDREN (at least two or three)then you cannot even compare backgrounds.
OK...I will take this one on. As a former drug/alcohol counselor, where do you think the worst drug problems exist in the state? I will tell you. It is not in the Urban areas. It is in places like Bellevue and Issaquah where kids are getting into their parent's extensive pharmaceutical collection, well stocked bar, and buying expensive street drugs with their fat allowance. But don't take my word for it. Call a local treatment center who works with kids and ask their opinion about the wealthier schools.
The drug use statistics in high schools are much higher than what the state suggests. For one thing, they are relying on kid's disclosure and too many are not going to tell the truth. I estimate that by senior year, 80-90% are using or have tried drugs. Ask any high schooler what they think the percentage is.
So what are you going to do PRR reader? Put all children in military school to be trained by the government? Or is this just a wide scale social ill governed by schools that are unequipped to address the social decay that quickly escalates amongst the immature teen? More parents than I can count have fought the ravages of drug use and were not a bad parent. It is raging hormones, constant social pressure to use, and a host of music, television, and gaming that is constantly brainwashing today's youth then they go about having high risk sex that leads to pregnancy. The wealthier will be more inclined, I believe, to whisk their wild one away to the local abortion clinic rather than face having an unwanted child who will reduce future opportunities.
I will tell you right now, that cheerleaders, jocks, and private school kids are filling up the inpatient treatment programs so explain your reasoning because it is not very researched nor are you on the front lines.
A grandmother who knows the truth...
One last comment: Foster parents aren't doing any better. Studies show that kids in their care are dropping out of school twice the rate of the population and 50% of the girls get pregnant with one third actually having the child. So, why not give them to the grandparents or other extended family?
Do you really think that just because a foster parent takes a week long class and passes a background check that makes them a good parent? Most of them fall in poverty guidelines and do benefit from the checks.
You don`t know what you`re talking about. It isn`t about the adults at all. THERE ARE KIDS BEING TAKEN FOR NO REASON. Granted, that`s not the case in all cases. CPS is harming our children and emotionally abusing them. The only thing you`re right about is that you are "generalizing." I hope you or anyone else you know doesn`t have a little blond haired blue eyed girl. She could be next!! I have the feeling you are a CPS employee. And I don`t care anything about staying anonymous. I know what those people are capable of.
Anytime that reader wants to trade places with one family involved with CPS just let us know, we will see what your opinion is at that time....you will then know the meaning of hell on earth...bitch! Sorry Pam no disrespect ment.
I have seen social workers who actually believe this. When I met with CPS SW to discuss my daughter the first thing that I was asked was "How did your daughter get this way"? Believe me if I knew what made her go down this road of drugs, lies, theft and more I would at least know what I could do to help her. I have heard many parents cry in agony over their children who are lost. I have seen families spend every last dime they have and more to try and help this child. I don't know what world you live in but its not the world I see. John Steinbeck once said "there are many loving parents but few loving children". What is really truly unfair is to be judged by another's actions. If as a parent you walked away from your mixed up kid you would be judged very harshly. As a grandparent who is trying to save a grandchild from foster care etc., you are judged harshly because you did not walk away. This system and this kind of thinking is illogical and self serving.
Everybody who has truly been wronged by CPS, go to classactionconnect.com. Lets try to get a lawsuit started.
However, the important thing to ask is what did the parent's do? That is the question that nobody seems to ask. I wonder why? Is it because they actually didn't head down a wrong path? Perhaps, they simply walked into a public hospital for the birth of their healthy newborn baby. Before grandparent's or aunts could intervene; their baby was already in the clutches of CPS; never to be seen or heard from again except for the occasional visit on the part of the parent's. Yes, and then the family that wants to intervene is the family that gets trashed. When nobody from the other side intervenes; why, they have no idea what is going on nor do they even care I guess.
I don't think anyone could screw up children and lie about family better than CPS.
Hopefully intelligent people will consider the corrupt source and Abolish CPS. "LFF"
